5... 4... 3... 2... 1...

I love movies. I love them. I can sit and watch movies all day and all night if I could. Not just movies, anything that's either substantial and interesting (like documentaries), has a good story to tell, and/or teaches me something new and opens up my eyes... If so, I'm all ears (& eyes). Now the previous statement pretty much narrowed down the movie pickings to be pretty slim. They're not all that I watch, but I do love when I get one, two, three, or all of those different aspects from a movie. Pfft, don't get me wrong, I still do love romantic and cheesey chick-flicks (uhm... duh I'm a chick). I can add to that: comedies, movies based on true stories/events, dramas, Pixar animated films, etc. In a nutshell, I like to be entertained... especially when I'm paying $12+ bucks each time. Okay so I guess you can say that I love all movies. So only regard the first few sentences if you know what I'm actually trying to say.

I'm NOT a fan of those really lame dramatic over the top high school teen dramas/blahblahblah/waaaah I'm sad because I didn't win prom queen/ I can't believe you bought me a BMW instead of a Hummer on my 16th Birthday/ I can't believe you're dating my ex-boyfriend from 2nd grade movies that revolve around teenagers/tweens/20-somethings from a pretty superficial standpoint. The reason these descriptions are so generalized and 1 dimensional, is because they're the stereotypes that people still live up to, that some audiences still like to watch on TV and in movies. More of why I don't care for these types of movies much, is because there is nothing realistic about them. I don't like seeing a character on the movie screen that portrays a dumber and ditzier person because it's how they're usually seen. This is exactly why kids and teenagers have a narrow outlook on the real people they see every day that may look like the kids on the silver screen. Okay, maybe the hierarchies in high schools that kids create, the different cliques, the struggles to get through the pressure of trying to fit in... I get it. It just sucks that the stories are all the same.

Hm, drowned out, predictable, superficial & over the top. They are mostly recycled stories that are almost identical to each other if it weren't for the new actors that play the stereotypical characters who are reading tweaked lines from scripts 3 years before. It's like there's a packet on the set somewhere that you fill out on what kind of movie you want to film, and underneath it gives you a list of characters you must have. Ex: "Jock (check), Cheerleader (check), Nerd #1 (check), Nerd #2 (check), understated artsy chick that doesn't talk and only paints (check), goody-goody (check), Smart Asian (check), depressed loner girl/guy (check), girl who wants to be cool so she does anything to be cool until she gets manipulated and embarassed (check), and maybe, juuust maybe: super cool girl/guy who was once cool and can't handle the pressures of being so cool so he/she breaks away from that cool crowd and is now 'one of us'. Okay, we get it. Move along now.

I'm sure if a story about those people were taken more seriously and shot from a real eye-opening perspective, I would have a lot more interest in it. Hell, I'd love to watch it and know the reasons behind people's ideas, thoughts and actions. Other than that, It's pretty sad to know that young audiences are still watching other kids/adults act like this in our society. Okay, definitely getting off topic now (that should have been a completely different post)... anyway. Movies. Good ones. I like good ones. Great ones are even better. That's all.

[ I honestly forgot what I was going to say after the first paragraph... fml. I think there might have been a lingering thought just consuming my sub-conscience that needed to be released. Sorry. ]
