Sufjan Sunday = Sufjan Funday

I feel like my entire day was just SOO non-stop. There were so many highlights of the night, that I hope I don't leave out any of the best ones in this. I'll try to start from the beginning, in somewhat of a chronological order:

1) Coffee cravings
2) Potato Tacos
3) Velvet Underground on our way to Sufjan Stevens
4) "Oh, so this is the top then?"
5) DDD's (amazing seats)
6) The opening performer was actually good! It was a 20 minute set though. How ironic, when I finally enjoy an opening artist, they cut it short.
6.5) Lion Patience = My impotence
7) Sisqo, Usher, R Kelly solos
8) LA Weekly photographer comes up and asks to take a picture of us (Me, Angie, Kyle and Kyle)... cool.
9) SUFJAN SINGING!
10) SUFJAN DANCING!
11) SUFJAN BEING ADORABLY CHARMING!
12) almost 3 hours of SUFJAN. The performance wasn't ANYTHING that I was expecting. He played mostly new songs, which on a regular night I would be bummed with the set, BUT OH MY GOODNESS! AMAZING. IN-FREAK-ING-CRED-I-BLE! There were awesome lights, the videos in the backdrop for every song, the instrumentation, the band, everything. Of course, his sweet self being so... cute.
13) Random audience member chick who couldn't help herself: "SUFJAN WILL YOU MARRY ME?!".... Sufjan: "uh.. Noo"
14) Story time
15) The Owl & The Tanager
16) "T-Pain" appearance. He's breakin' it down, getting really fresh n' stuff. No biggie. The crowd starts to get up and dance. SO FUN.
17) Enchanting Ghost
18) Last song blew our minds live.
19) Encore
20) One of the dudes gave me a set list. Shweet.
21) Age of Adz T shirt: $5... Buying the T-shirt outside in the rainy parking lot from a man who doesn't know who Sufjan is: Priceless
22) Swingers (for my first time)
23) Jukebox mix: Neil Young, Dylan, Bowie, The National, Girls, along with a few other gems.
24) Sitting a few booths away from Jurassic Park's Jeff Goldblum and Kyle Canyon's dream-girl #23130783 Lizzy Caplan.
25) Waiter that kept hitting on Kyle Boylan
26) Kyle C. picking up the check for some reason.

That's as good as I can get on the details of the night. These are the most memorable tid-bits, and of course it's not as exciting when I'm numbering it off, but it was better than it sounds... WAY BETTER. The performance alone exceeded any expectations I had before going in, and I'm so glad. I'm so happy we decided to buy tickets last minute, and ended up getting SUPER lucky with the seating arrangements. Yaaaay I can't wait for the vinyl I ordered 4 weeks ago to come in the mail! Pretty pumped on the fact that the first time I got a chance to listen to Sufjan's new album was listening to it LIVE. He's definitely a talented musician, vocalist, artist, everythingist. By the by, if anyone was wondering how he sounds off of the album, it's 500 times better. It seems unreal when he sings. What a wonderful night Sunday had to offer =].

PS- Check out some (really clear high def) pictures from the show at LA Weekly! (ahem, #25... ahem...) haha.
