So I just got back from night two of Weezer's Memories Tour- Pinkerton Night (...ahem, the best)... what can I say? Really? Really? Did they REALLY do a "greatest hits" set, and then ALL OF PINKERTON!? ALL IN ONE NIGHT?! OH YEAH: HURLEY FROM LOST CAME OUT AND HELPED SING A SONG?! UHHMMM... Whoever was in charge of this whole thing... should be voted king. It was amazing. That's literally all I have left to say after such a memorable performance. It was the "memories" tour after all =]. Honestly, when they opened for a few bands the past couple of years, I was lucky to hear just ONE song that was from their blue album... it wasn't even a thought to hear anything at all from Pinkerton. Such a special performance. This will be remembered forEVER... I don't think something like this will come around again and I am SO glad that I've got Kyle around to toss over his extra ticket =]. Such a fun night.
Oh yeah... perhaps the strangest thing that's ever happened to me (to date): I was waiting in the lobby with Kyle and his friend for Weezer's second set just outside the entrance, and I notice a lady walking by with her friends. She's a bit older, late 30's early 40's probably. She is walking by us with a kiddish grin on her face and she's staring at me. For a second I thought she was staring at someone that was behind me (you know, those awkward moments when you think some person is actually talking to you) but I was wrong because the only thing behind me was a wall. So I didn't say anything about it. Three seconds later, this same lady comes back and starts talking to me really fast. I couldn't hear her because of the chatter throughout the hallway, but when she finally repeated herself she says "oh by the way, GREAT performance last night... (Me: excuse me?).... I loved your performance on Conan O'Brien last night, loved it, I'm a big big fan... (Me: ?????? uh... ) ... really awesome job! I'm a big big fan."
And that was that. She walked away right after. Oh yeah I forgot to mention how it totally ended. Instead of making her feel embarrassed for going up to a complete stranger and praising them on their "performance" and thinking it was someone she saw on TV, I just awkwardly went along with it. Something along the lines of "oh, thank you so much, have a good night." Of course while I was role playing whoever "I" was on Conan Last night, I was still lost and could not figure out who I could have doppleganged. Anywho, she was stoked. I was confused. It went very well. There's also another theory: That she knows I'm nobody (famous) or known in any way, and lost a bet and got dared to go up to someone and do that. If so... well done... coulda fooled me.
[Still so happy I got to hear Suzanne...]
